The turnout for the game was incredible… the stands were so packed that they actually opened up the North end zone, which they normally don’t do for high school games.
The game itself, however, wasn’t as great a game as I was expecting it to be… Punahou dominated the game from the get-go… They scored a touchdown and Leilehua had an injured player within the first minute. Punahou’s defense held Leilehua to their own side of the field for the majority of the game… I don’t think Leilehua crossed the 50 yard line until late in the second quarter.
Final score: Punahou 38, Leilehua 7
Congratulations to Punahou on their first Football State Championship!

Tonight is the Hawaii High School Athletic Association 2008 State Football Championships. There are 2 games tonight: the division II championship between Iolani and Radford and the divsion I championship between Leilehua and Punahou.
In case you didn’t know, Kim (and the majority of her family) is a Leilehua grad, while I’m a Punahou grad. We’re going to the game tonight with Kim’s sister (who is a Leilehua grad and the registrar at Leilehua) and her family and because I’m outnumbered, we’ll be sitting in the Leilehua section.  :O
It should be a great game… Punahou is ranked #1 trailed very closely by #2 Leilehua. Both teams have an explosive offense and run a predominantly air game… both teams have a lot of pressure to win… Punahou is ranked #1, but has not won a state championship to date, while Leilehua is the returning state champion.
May the best team win…Â Go PUNS!!! (and Mules!)

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!
Today was a bittersweet day for Kim and I… it’s Thanksgiving day, but it’s also exactly 4 months since Logan left us. This has been an extremely rough year for us and it’s difficult some times to see the good things in our lives… there are many, though.
We are thankful that we still have a house over our heads, we have such supportive and wonderful friends and family, and we are especially thankful that we still have each other.
Thank you everyone for being there to support us through this year (and throughout our lives).
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

Sorry for the short hiatus. Lance and I just got back from vacation. We spent a week at Disneyland.
There were ten of us from Hawaii… Lance and I, my parents, Jen, Hugh, Dana, Megan, Sandy, and Mika. Like our last trip to Disney, we stayed in the Grand Californian Hotel . . . NICE!!Â
A huge perk to staying there is having your own entrance to California Adventure and Downtown Disney. Believe it or not, we crammed all ten of us into two rooms! The girls were excited because their room had a bunk bed in it . . . of course they had to take turns sleeping on the top bunk!
Our Disney trip this year was very different from our trip two years ago. This time around, Dana and Megan were both old enough (and tall enough!) to ride the “big kid” rides! No more Dumbo for Meggy! The girls were both soo proud of themselves after their first time on each “big kid” ride! They went on everything . . . Matterhorn (2 million thumbs UP from Meggy), Splash Mountain, Grizzly River Run (Meggy’s favorite), Tower of Terror (Meggy gave this one 2 million thumbs DOWN), Big Thunder Mountain, Space Mountain, Star Tours, and California Screamin’ (Meggy wasn’t tall enough, but this was Dana’s favorite). Meggy said she would have chosen the Matterhorn as her favorite, if it didn’t have the “snow abominal” (aka the “abdominal snowman” according to Mika).
Our real reason for going to Disneyland was to trick-or-treat with Mickey and friends on Halloween night. Joining us at Mickey’s Trick-or-Treat party were lots of our mainland family . . . Aunty Gail, cousins Tracey (and her husband Brian and their 3 boys Caleb, Nate, & Kai), Lynn (and her daughter Sydney), and Laurie (and her 2 boys Jacob & Kyle) . . . this brought our total to 21! We had 11 dalmatians (me, Lance, Jen, Hugh, Dana, Meggy, Sandy, Mika, Laurie, Jacob, & Kyle), Cruella de Vil (my mom!), Jasper the henchman (my dad!), Indiana Jones (Caleb), a storm trooper (Nate), a baseball player (Kai), and a super-cute ladybug (baby Sydney). What a sight to see! As we walked through the park, you wouldn’t believe how many people asked to take our picture! We had a blast!
During our week in California, we also got to celebrate Sydney’s 1st birthday (just a little early!) at Brian and Tracey’s house in Anaheim Hills. Brian cooked up a mean Mexican dinner of margaritas, guacamole dip, enchiladas, & soft tacos . . . YUM! We celebrated Sydney’s 1st birthday with a delicious chocolate dobash cake (made by a friend of Tracey’s) . . . DOUBLE YUM!
It was great to see everyone (our first time meeting Sydney!) again. It was also nice to get away and leave our worries behind for a little while. You can check out some pictures of our trip on our photo website.

September 2nd was Lance’s first day back at the office . . . after working at home for a week, we both knew that he’d have to go back to the office some time. With Lance back at the office, we agreed that it was time for me to go back to school (since we were both worried about me being home alone all day long).
Neither of us were looking forward to September 2nd . . . with both of us back at work, this also meant that we would be apart for the first time since Logan left us. Getting through each day without Logan is hard enough when we’re together . . . we couldn’t imagine what it would be like to live without Logan while we’re apart.
When Logan left us, we promised each other that we would get through this difficult time together. Throughout this past month, we’ve leaned on each other for support . . . we talk about Logan, laugh at our funny memories of him, cry for all that we’ve lost, get angry at the unfairness of what’s happened, and just hold onto each other when the going gets tough.
Luckily, our first week apart went pretty smoothly . . . we missed being together, but we managed. Logan was definitely working overtime keeping an eye on us both!

Here’s our first post that’s not all about Logan! As many of you know, my birthday was on June 25th . . . Lance & I were fortunate enough to be able to celebrate my birthday with a 3-night stay in Waikiki. Lance’s parents redeemed some time share points for the hotel stay & graciously offered it to us so that we could cut down on our driving time for a few days. The time share unit was great . . . there was a living room, dining table, kitchen (with a full size refrig, stove, oven, toaster, microwave, blender, rice pot, etc.), bathroom (with a Jacuzzi tub!!), & master bedroom.
On the night of my birthday, Lance took me to dinner at The Cheesecake Factory. We ate waay too much & almost had to roll back to our hotel, but it was definitely worth it!
I definitely wasn’t expecting to already be a mommy on my birthday this year, but I guess Logan had plans of his own. I was so lucky to be able to spend my birthday with Lance & Logan . . . my 2 favorite guys!
